Frequently Asked Questions
- Q: Will the book Obsidian Kingdom be a series or a standalone novel?
- A: This book will absolutely be a Series. We plan to have 4 solid books regarding Obsidian Kingdom. I do plan to make spin-offs as well, as I was offered to make Mini-Comic panels for the Project by friends.
- Q: Are you new to writing? Do you plan to do other books?
- A: I am not new to writing in general, but being published, yes. I also plan to have mini novella-style books in the future of some ideas that came from dreams I've had over the years, or spun off of Original Characters that I personally own or created for forum roleplaying.
- Q: How long does it take for you to write a chapter? Or rather a storyline?
- A: It can take me anywhere between less than an hour to create or respond to roleplaying stories I'm a part of or create. After spending years roleplaying in writing-style communities since MySpace was originally designed. It comes second nature to me to create unique worlds and character behaviors.
- Q: How did Obsidian Kingdom come to mind?
- A: Obsidian Kingdom - was originally going to be named "The Child of Aserk" as it was originally planned that Orpheus's predecessor, King, would be the focus. But after a long time, I realized that King had died many years ago, and I did not want to dig up his character for the book. As much as I do want to create a prequel-like book of their family for official canon. Maybe later I will, but for now I wanted to focus on his family that remained.
- Q: When did you start to write Obsidian Kingdom?
- A: I started to jot down tidbits of passages. I had missed roleplaying so much, and I often either type out single POV mini chapters for myself and or I just write in my journal. Around May of 202,5, I decided to do a little more than just a single POV chapter, and I realized that I missed writing so much, so I made an extended journal entry. After my kids had read it with me, they had pushed me to try and make a small book of Orpheus and his trials. Though it was originally more or less a comedy and a funny little exploration chapter. It made me want to deep dive back into Orpheus and who he is. Thiledad led me to begin to write him out more fleshed out and not just for fun. By June, I had decided to retell his life story from what his original life story was designed as back in 2017. After many attempts to recreate his life to better suit an actual story, I decided to keep going. Thus, Obsidian Kingdom was born under Orpheus's paws.
- Q: Can readers obtain downloadable content for Obsidian Kingdom or other Projects you have planned?

These items include but are not limited to: Stickers, Bookmarks, Acrylic keychains and charms, Bumper stickers, Posters, Digital Posters and or Wallpaper for desktops/phones, Magnets, Pins, and or Car Decals.
- Q: Do you support AI or Artists that use it?
- A: No, all our artwork, items, and book covers are made by real people. You can check our official artists here. You can also read more about our artwork, project art and more also listed on our Updates post here.
- Q: What does Pledging do for the Obsidian Kingdoms Project?
- A: Pledging can obtain the buyer a featured character slot to have their own original character come into our books, either as a side character, protagonist, antagonistic styled character, trader, etc. Pledgers also get exclusive first-hand features of the book, printed items that may be exclusive only to pledged supporters, and handmade items like our bookmarks, made by me.
- Q: How many pages is Obsidian Kingdom Book One?
- A: Roughly over 200 pages. I did not want to create a large book that gave a sense of confusion when read, nor did I want to create a styled book that was too long. I wanted to separate each book with a different issue about Orpheus and his situation. So each book will strive to have 15 chapters within it.
- Q: How long was the creative process for Obsidian Kingdom?
- A: Starting from June to November of 2025, a total of 6 months for editing, correcting, watching videos of animal behavior/lion fights, and or movements, as well as commissioning artists for digital or printed goodies, were taken to complete the project. I already had background knowledge of African Lions before writing this project, and Orpheus was already an OC of mine before deciding to make the series about him. So it was not very hard for me to break into his personality and write up his world.
- Q: Is there world lore? A map? Or anything regarding Obsidian Kingdom?
- A: YES! Though I didn't want to bore anyone by setting the book up with two chapters of world-building. But there is world history as well as Lore regarding Orpheus's family, their lineage, languages, as well as why the characters are not bound by our realistic African lions and their counterparts. There IS also a map that readers can see both in the book as well as by scanning the QR code to view it in full scale, so that one may be able to zoom in and out on it.
- Q: Can we still support the project without buying the books?
- A: Yes, you absolutely can! We allow supportive donations not only from our readers but also from anyone who feels they wish to support this project. All and any donations that are not for the direct purchase of the book and its inside content go directly to paying our Artists' Tips, as well as buying copies of our books and goodies when needed.
- Q: Does Obsidian Kingdom only have Lions as its main focus?
- A: No, though the characters are the focus, we have a variety of African animal species that are showcased through the series. Such as, but not limited to: Gelada's, Baboons, Lions, Elephants, Leopards, Mandrills, Pied Crows, Hoopoes, Hippos, Crocodiles, Snakes, Hyenas, Wild dogs, Caracals, and many more in the future. Some are either actual characters that our MCs interact with, or they are background individuals/species that come in through chapters or settings of events.
- Q: Can I create Fan art of characters in your books?
- A: Absolutely! We only ask that no fan art be explicitly showcasing anything sexual or be designed with hate speech in mind. We do have a submission area on both the website and our Discord for fan art!
- Q: What is the general reading age for your projects and Obsidian Kingdom?
- A: Obsidian Kingdom is listed as 16 and over, but other projects will be either geared for 18+ due to language and heavier topics, as well as our short stories may not have any ratings as they are purely to enjoy and get lost in with little to no adult language or mature topics.
- Q: How can I buy your book?
- A: You can buy directly through our website here and or via PayPal, as well as on Amazon, and or through our Ko-Fi page.
- Q: What platforms will your book be found on?
- A: I plan to be found on Amazon, Kindle, Barnes and Noble, as well as donating our books to our local library. We will also be found on Facebook and TikTok for our readers and buyers there, too.
- Q: What programs and or references did you use for Obsidian Kingdom?
- A: Britannica for understanding lion behavior and their characteristics. Inkarnate was used for our Map creation. Affinity by Canva was used to apply our map, edit and design the chapter headers, and Google Docs was used to edit and design the book as an Epub/PDF for both Amazon and Kindle to handle. Adobe Express was used to format the book cover as a PSD/PDF file handle so that when printed and downloaded, the colors and panels would be correct across all printed formats by our sellers. Canva was used for the book covers 'torn' appearance. Medibang was used to edit and create visual character references for our Artists to be able to replicate and make commissioned art of our characters. ILOVEPDF was used to edit our PDF files and merge our PSD map files so that when adding to Amazon/Kindle, the images would correspond correctly when printed or downloaded to read.
